W3C HTML Validator
Well, well, well. Took a look at what changes have been made to the development code of the W3C validator over the summer and boy are things hotting up. They've certainly cleaned up the check perl file a great deal and have at last seperated out the platform-specific and configuration variables to their own check.cfg file. This would have made my efforts to get it running on WinME far easier. Best of all the validator will now also able to generate XML versions of its reports. Ya beauty! This is going to make it far easier to build the validator into web services or desktop apps rather than faffing around scraping HTML. To try it out visit http://validator.w3.org:8001 /Submit a url as usual but add &output=xml to your query string and try again. This is still 'in progress' but it's all good stuff.
