Surreality Television

Just been watching the Queen of UK TV, Esther Rantzen appearing on Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes as....Edith Piaf and singing La vie en Rose in French. I have to say she's actually got a pretty good singing voice and had obviously done her homework on interpreting the song. Esther aside, I'm begining to question the TV definition of 'famous', if those were 'celebrities'...heaven help us, had no clue about a couple of them, they're all famous...for being on other TV shows, is no one from outside tellyland game for a laugh? 9:56:25 PM

""the Minister for Almost Everything" - refuses to be daunted by kailyard cluckings: "Politics is about power so you have to live with the fact that it attracts invective... and be aware that you are sometimes the subject of lies."  Alexander the great ?  April 6th 2002 [The Scotsman] 6:20:50 PM

Margaret Curran promoted to Social Justice Minister

Iain Gray moves to become Enterprise Minister. "Iain Gray, currently the Minister for Social Justice, has been appointed as the new Minister for Enterprise, Transport and Lifelong Learning in the Cabinet. He takes over the portfolio from Wendy Alexander who resigned yesterday. Mr Gray's former deputy at Social Justice, Margaret Curran, is appointed Social Justice Minister. ...Ms Curran said:"I am delighted to accept this important job. It has many challenges not least transferring Glasgow's housing stock and defeating child poverty but I am confident this government can change Scotland for good and look forward to working with my ministerial colleagues." Scottish Cup Final

Old Firm Cup Final Celtic v Rangers, Final Score:  Celtic 2 Rangers 3

Well as one of very few Glaswegians who is neutral where Celtic and Rangers are concerned I have to say that was one of the best Cup Finals I've seen in years, exciting, competitive, (relatively) clean. After all the misery about clubs going under and the dire financial situation in most Scottish clubs the Cup Final has been a great advert for the game. Well done both.
