Marianne Faithfull has a website for her new CD "Kissin' Time". The winner of anyones Glamorous Granny competition is still as sexy and husky-voiced as ever (check out the "EPK" movies for her talk about making the album). She's written the lyrics for most  of the tracks and the music includes collaboration with the likes of Beck/Blur/Jarvis Cocker on the new Kissin Time. The CD cover contains a "Parental Guidance - Explicit Lyrics" warning. Hooray :-) 11:10:45 PM

Oscar Night 2002 - 74th Annual Academy Awards

Got the popcorn and gulshuck ready for Oscar night. I guess the Sky contract for coverage must have run out because it looks like it's on BBC2 this year. I pray that it's *live* coverage and not one of those studio-based programmes that dips in and out of the results. All I want to see is the show, ugh Jonathan Ross, no thank you.

Mystic Lass hasn't got any predictions for tonight but for a blow-by-blow runes-reading consult Madame Finke: Reading the Academy's nasty mind "Oscar voters are cranky score-settlers. Here's how they'll rate this year's nominees" By Nikki Finke [Salon]

Personally I'd love to see Helen Mirren and John Broadbent win. They've both served British Television viewers with top-notch performances for years, now both doing more film-work. Helen in particular is suffering from that well known lack of acting parts for women "of a certain age". I also have a soft spot for Ian McKellen who seems to get more and more relaxed with age, turning in better and better work and doesn't let any of the fame nonsense get to his head.

William Walton night - BBC4

I think the BBC4 digital channel is beginning to win me over. We've just had a concert of exquisitely beautiful and exciting music by William Walton and they're following it by screening "Henry V". That film (by Larry Olivier and co.) contains his superb score - it matches what is on screen so perfectly - especially the sequence where the armies are on horseback and gradually speed into battle then the gorgeous lyrical stuff for the love scenes. Job for a single parent please

"hiya,
i am a single parent of 4 children. i am currently on benefits and am desperately trying to get off government assistance. having  experience in domestic abuse and women's issues both firsthand and in  the role of visiting teacher(where i counsel and support women, i  feel i am in the position to help others who are going thru what i  have been thru and what i have learned.
i have various qualifications and experience. they include hnc health care(behavioural science, development ofhealth care  policy, promoting health) nc counselling and i also have qualifications  in art design, basic computing, and photography.
as a visiting teacher i was the senior companion, and would train my companion to counsel and support the women we were assigned.
having been the victim of domestic abuse and having been homeless at one point in my life,i feel i am able to be objective and  understanding-especially as i have come thru it and am the well  rounded person i am today.
my only problem now is to get a job...and this is where you,my future employer comes into it.
i am willing to work in any capacity whatsoever. i am extremely adaptable, and very tolerant and understanding. anyone who employs me  will not regret it. all i need is the chance.
