The Compaq/HP merger is...on. So will it be CompHP or HPaq or what screwy new age name will they plump for, or is it a 'modern marriage' where they keep their own names. 10:47:35 PM

Ooh, just received the false message from "Microsoft Corporation Security Center
" with the subject line "Internet Security Update" which of course is totally bogus, I mean, Microsoft and security in the same sentence, ha! Full details of the attached worm 10:42:52 PM

Hey Yahoo sent out an apology for the downtime on Yahoogroups.  Nice to know what happened (hardware failure). They should just label the e-mail "Shit happens". As far as I can tell we haven't lost anything on the femscot archives but it does make you feel quite vulnerable. I know of quite a few people who would be more than prepared to pay for yahoogroups to get rid of the damned adverts. Surely it can't be too long before we get that option. It's also extremely difficult to archive a list. I tend to subscribe dummy accounts with their own POP3 box to my lists with the vague notion that at somepoint I can run the POP files through an archiver. 8:31:29 PM

Glad to see I'm not the only one experiencing Google wierdness. Some categories of Scottish Lass have been completely dropped. Some queries return a cached version of the homepage from 4th Feb others don't. Experienced Googlers say it's  quite normal for pages to go out and into the index whilst they are going through their reindexing which is staggered across many servers hence the curious delays in updates, Brian Carnell got an explanation  out of them. 7:21:52 PM

Johann Lamonts motion

International Women's Day - 8 March 2002 - S1M-2784

That the Parliament notes that 8 March 2002 is International Women's Day; congratulates the Women Together group in the Pollok constituency and women across Scotland and around the world who are organising events to celebrate the work of women past, present and future; recognises the central role of women in our
communities in meeting needs today and creating change for tomorrow and beyond, and urges the Scottish Executive and the Parliament's committees, in partnership with women's organisations, to examine how women's needs and rights might more effectively be addressed across the range of services, departments and organisations that impact on women's lives.
