Excellent! Aaron Gillette's got Radio communicating with Zope! Well now the content world's your oyster or Python as the case may be. 8:43:40 PM
Ooh, I've just had a subscription request to a Yahoo group mailing list turned down by the moderator - no message or reason given. It is only funny when you know that the group is one supposed to be promoting accessibility in Scotland (SWANPeople). Seems to be a very select few allowed in. I guess I must still be in ugly-duckling mode. They even have archives set to readable only by the *moderator*. See accessibility? See irony.
8:15:40 PM"Darius slams Pop Idol. Pop Idol's latest reject, Darius Danesh, has made a controversial attack on the smash ITV1 show, calling the accolade a "poisoned chalice". It comes as the final two in the hunt, Will and Gareth, begin 'campaigning' ahead of Saturday's final." [ITN Online]
I think it was a set up, I watched Scottish TVs tape of the so called "attack" the ITN article doesn't really make it clear that it was a two-way conversation with his publicist with her doing the lions share of talking, Darius's "quotes" are really replies to what she was saying - moaning about the competition. Well by hook or by crook she's done her job - Darius is in the news. All grist to the publicity mill.
8:06:59 PM"Antoine de Saint-Exupery. "Grown-ups never understand anything for themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them."" [Quotes of the Day]
Well Pop Idol for one. I've spent a bit of time going through various Pop Idol fan websites and I'm blown away by the technical savvyness of our teenagers. Big Brother was largely a grown-up phenomenon but with Pop Idol you have 12-14 year olds setting up their own Gareth Gates (and every other contestant) clubs on Yahoo, scanning in their photos/drawings, writing poetry, the works. The next generation are certainly smart enough to use content management systems and groupware. What kind of online world will they shape? Fascinating :-)
7:55:58 PM"Idol campaigning gets underway. The final two Pop Idol contestants Gareth Gates and Will Young have taken to their "Battle Buses" for a week of General Election-style campaigning in a bid to secure the public's votes. " [ITN Online]
Will's degree in politics may yet be put to good use.
7:50:00 PMIt's a boy! "New member steps into Hear'Say. Chart toppers Hear'Say have unveiled their new member - it is Johnny Shental, 23, the fiance of Lisa Scott-Lee of former pop rivals Steps." [ITN Online] 7:48:54 PM
"Ex-Enron chief resigns from board. The former chairman of collapsed US energy giant Enron has resigned from the board of the company he set up." [ITN Online]
Was it something he *didn't* say?
