Just settling down to watch Super Bowl XXXVI . Complete with popcorn. Each year I say "I'm not going to watch the superbowl"...then I always do :-) . As a sport it's a pretty dull affair , not up to much with all those breaks in play. But it's still a great occasion - a bit like Oscar night. It's just one of those razamatazz dos that Americans do do so well. So I've even taken tomorrow off work to recover from the late shift in telly-watching. One of my favourites Mary J Blige was taking part in the opening ceremony and sang "America the beautiful" with Marc Antony (who he? No Cleopartra in sight). Also Sir Paul McCartney singing "Freedom". Mariah Carey - I don't like her voice but even I have to admit that she's just sung a brilliant rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.

The Game: Hey there's a Scottish connection Yo Murphy returning the opening kick of the game played for the Scottish Claymores in the World Bowl. Murphy willing. See what Irn-Bru will do for you :-)

Alas one part of the Super Bowl experience we don't get on British TV via SKY is the adverts see kSuperBowlCommercials.  Thanks for the link to the Britney Spears Pepsi advert - I couldn't believe it when the other day ITN evening news had a complete item about it. What on earth is the fuss about - it's only the ridiculous cost that grabs the headlines. Super Bowl Half-Time: U2 with Bono doing the nonchalent rock star thing of walking through the screaming girlie crowd to get to the stage. Can't help thinking of our wee Pop Idol contestants *that's* the kind of thing they'd be expected to do without batting an eyelid. The 'crowd' around the U2 stage seem a wee bit strange. They seem more interested in getting their mugs on TV than in supporting the band. Said crowd goes wild when Bono raises wan rock oxter and bares the inside of his jaiket - lined with stars and stripes. He's clearly been taking fashion tips from the opera divas who perform Rule Britannia and unfold their Red White and Blue secret weapons on the Last Night of the Proms :-)

3:18AM The New England Patriots website is giving "Connection Timed Out" errors. Can't think why :-) Whereas access to St Louis Rams is fine. Everyone loves a winner...

"Darius: I'll make it yet. Pop Idol reject Darius Danesh vowed to continue his pursuit of stardom today but ruled himself out of the running to be a new member of Hear'say." [ITN Online8:42:59 PM

I'm not a huge fan of Flash due to the accessibility problems it causes but it does have it's uses. My love of physics means I quite like robertpenner.com Flash 5 Actionscript experiments in math and particles. That old Zanussi advert comes to mind "The appliance of science". 2:00:29 AM

More female bloggers: "My name is Meg. I'm a late twenty-something noomeejahoor living in London, but words have always been my first love..." [Not.so.soft]

Great site, brilliantly written and nicely implemented. She has Iona connections - her mother lives there. Check out the photo gallery for some stunning pics of the island.
